Meet Dr. Rosario

Board-certified pediatrician. Mother of six. Founder of Serenity Pediatric Wellness

My Story

I’m Dr. Irissa Rosario, a board-certified pediatrician and the founder of Serenity Pediatric Wellness. I’m a Coastal South Carolina native, raised around the world in a military family — an experience that shaped my curiosity, adaptability, and deep respect for different cultures and ways of caring for one another. My husband and I have been married for almost 15 years, and we have six children. I’ve been on both sides of the exam room — as the doctor and as the exhausted new mom trying to figure it all out — and that shapes everything about how I practice.

Integrative health has always been part of my life. As a woman of Gullah ancestry, I grew up watching my grandmothers practice as herbalists and midwives. They believed in the power of positive thinking, mindfulness, prayer, and community care — and that foundation runs through everything I do at Serenity. My formal training in integrative medicine began with a course on Indigenous herbal medical practices through the Well of Indigenous Knowledge School. I went in expecting to learn about herbs, but came away with something bigger — a new way of seeing health that expanded far beyond what my conventional medical education had offered.

That shift matters because conventional medicine is excellent at treating problems once they’re obvious, but it doesn’t always create true wellness. Wellness is something we cultivate, especially early in life. In pediatrics, that means paying attention to the everyday foundations that shape a child’s health — sleep, nutrition, environment, family rhythms, and the “why” behind recurring symptoms. Most traditional pediatric visits are limited to 10–15 minutes, and that’s rarely enough time to truly listen. Parents leave with lingering questions, and children with complex needs don’t get the space they deserve. I founded Serenity Pediatric Wellness to be a different kind of space. One where we take more time, listen deeply, look for root causes, and build a step-by-step plan you can actually follow. Where care feels calm, nurturing, and organized. And where I can meet your baby in their home during the early weeks — because that’s where real life is happening.

Our Values

Calm, Nurturing Care

Gentle, unhurried visits led by a physician who listens deeply.
We slow down so you feel heard, supported, and clear on next steps.

Integrative, Grounded in Science

We lead with evidence and add integrative tools
when they’re safe and truly helpful. Rooted in conventional pediatrics, expanded with
nutrition, sleep, lifestyle, and microbiome-informed options when appropriate. No
unnecessary testing or supplement overload.

Partnership Without Judgement

You know your child best — we make decisions
together, with respect and compassion. All families are welcome across cultures,
identities, and family structures.

Thoughtful, High-Touch Support

Details matter. Timely responses during business
hours, structured follow-up guidance, and seamless coordination when your child needs
more.
